A thoughtful flight-sim starting point
Choose the experience before buying the controls.
Begin with what you already own
Try your simulator with the supported controls you have. Decide whether you enjoy navigation, scenery, procedures or learning an aircraft’s systems. That decision is more useful than buying the largest hardware bundle at the outset.
Check the exact compatibility
Before buying a joystick, yoke or throttle, read the manufacturer’s requirements for your operating system, console and simulator version. Connector types and software support matter. An Amazon search result is a research route, not our certification that an accessory will work.
Make room for the hobby
Measure the available desk space and think about storage between sessions. A compact setup that is easy to start can be more rewarding than equipment that takes a long time to assemble. Simulation is a hobby environment; these pages do not provide real-world flight training.
