Choosing a scale-model project
Start with the experience you want from the model.
Choose the kind of project
A ready-made display model, a snap-fit kit and a detailed glue kit offer different experiences. Read the seller’s description carefully: the word “model” does not promise paints, tools or assembly instructions. Gift buyers should check whether building is part of the recipient’s hobby.
Scale is a ratio
At 1:144, a 144-unit length on the real aircraft becomes one unit on the model. Larger denominators make smaller models of the same aircraft. A large airliner can still take substantial shelf space at a small scale, so estimate the footprint before ordering.
Keep details honest
A livery is a design choice, not proof of a particular historical flight. If accuracy matters, compare the kit’s variant and markings with a museum or manufacturer record. Our Amazon links are research searches, with no invented ratings or claims that we have tested the products.
